UniTorch

Polymer modified reinforced roofing membrane

UniTorch 4 and UniTorch 3 are heat fused, UV stable roofing membranes which will provide complete waterproofing protection for low pitch decks. Locally manufactured to suit our unique weather conditions.

Fields of Application

Developed in South Africa specifically for local conditions, the UniTorch membranes are designed around tough high-performance synthetic fibre reinforcements, fully impregnated and coated with high quality polymer modified bitumens. UniTorch is therefore extremely durable, with high elasticity and good low temperature stability as well as having excellent resistance to thermal shock and the effects of ageing and UV degradation.

Features

  • A single layer of UniTorch waterproofing membrane is used in
roofing situations where the membranes are exposed.
  • The reinforcements, polyester and glass fibre, are vital for
dimensional stability - very important when the membrane is
    exposed.
  • The APP modified bitumen matrix is ideal for our environment
    with a high melting point.
  • Melting point in excess of 140°C
  • Material is stable at any roof temperatures
    (even on the hottest day)

Application - to screeded flat roofs to falls

Typical specialist application by competent waterproofing
contractors.

  • UniTorch is heat fused to pre-primed smooth concrete or
    screeded surfaces. Overlaps are heat fused by torch-on fusion;
    or
  • Loose laid with perimeter and lap bonding only by heat fusion

Application - to timber boarded roofs to falls

  • An underlayer of Interdek to be mechanically fixed prior
to UniTorch being fully bonded thereto by the heat fusion
    method.
  • Large prefabricated boards should be fixed with a 2 mm
joint between each board. The joint to receive a cover strip of roofing felt (minimum 200 mm width), attached to one side only before application of the UniTorch.

All exposed membrane to be painted on completion with
bituminous aluminium roof paint.
